PRP Treatments for Healthy Hair and Radiant Skin

Your body has an amazing ability to heal itself. Your blood plays an important part in this healing process. When you have an injury to an area, blood is sent there to help bring nutrients to the wound and fight infection. It can also stimulate new collagen growth.

At Proper Eu Medical & Aesthetics Center in Grand Rapids, we can help to harness the healing power of your blood through several different cosmetic treatments. We offer PRP hair loss treatments, PRP microneedling, and PRP facials.

What Is PRP?

PRP is an acronym for “platelet rich plasma.” This is a substance that is found in the blood. Your blood has many components including red blood cells, plasma, platelets, and white blood cells. For PRP treatments, our aim is to separate the platelets from other components in the blood so that we can use them to help your body heal in the target area.

To separate PRP for our treatments, we take a vial of the patient’s blood and place it in a special centrifuge machine. This FDA-approved machine spins the blood which separates it into red blood cells, platelet-rich plasma, and platelet poor plasma. The PRP layer is the one that we isolate and use for our treatments.

Once the PRP is separated from the rest of the blood, it can be used for any of the PRP services that we offer at our practice.

What Are the Benefits of PRP Treatments?

PRP Can Speed Healing

In the body, platelets are responsible for helping wounds heal. When injected or used in other ways, PRP can promote healing in the area.

PRP Can Stimulate Hair Growth

The platelets in PRP release growth factors that can be beneficial for use in patients with hair loss. PRP injections can help to stimulate existing hair follicles, causing them to reactivate or to produce thicker and healthier strands of hair.

PRP Can Encourage Collagen Production

Collagen is an essential protein that provides a structure for your skin. However, your body stops producing as much collagen as you age. If you want your skin to be firmer and more elastic, we can use PRP to help stimulate collagen production in your skin.

PRP Can Help Heal Scars

Scars can appear on the skin when you have an injury that goes past the outer layer of the skin. PRP can cause your skin to create healthy skin cells to replace the skin in these areas. PRP can be used to heal acne scars and many other types of scarring.

PRP Microneedling for Radiant Skin

What Is PRP With Microneedling?

Microneedling with PRP is a treatment that combines our microneedling services with the application of topical PRP. During this treatment, we perform a microneedling treatment and then apply PRP taken from your own blood onto the area.

Microneedling creates tiny perforations on the skin that your body will immediately begin to heal. As the healing process begins, your body produces more collagen and elastin which can help your skin to have a smoother and firmer texture. The application of PRP on the microneedling treatment area can further boost the production of collagen and help your body to heal more quickly from the microneedling treatment. In your PRP micronedling before and after, you may notice improved skin texture, reduced hyperpigmetation, fewer fine lines, and skin that is more radiant.

What Are the Benefits of Microneedling With PRP?

  • Healing of acne scars
  • Smaller pores
  • Smoother textured skin
  • Diminished dark spots
  • Improvement in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

PRP Hair Restoration for Hair Loss

An additional PRP treatment that is available is PRP injections for hair loss. If you are experiencing hair loss because of aging or other factors, we may be able to stimulate new hair growth in the area.

During a PRP hair restoration treatment, we will inject your own PRP into the area where you want thicker and healthier hair. Once there, it can stimulate more blood flow to the area. This can cause hair follicles that are dormant to reactivate. Other active hair follicles in the area can also become healthier and begin producing hair that is thicker and faster growing. Finally, PRP can prevent further hair loss from occuring.

PRP Injections for Healthier Skin

A PRP facial is a treatment that involves injecting the platelet rich plasma rather than applying it topically. This way the PRP can penetrate even further into the skin to allow the benefits to reach deeper layers of skin. Once we isolate the PRP, we can inject it into the areas of your face where you are noticing wrinkles and fine lines. It can be injected into the area under the eyes to reduce dark circles and fine lines and to help rejuvenate the skin. It can also be injected into marionette lines, nasolabial folds, the neck area, forehead, and more.

After PRP treatments you may notice immediate improvement because of the additional fluid under the skin. However, this filling effect is only temporary. Once the fluid disperses, the true work of the treatment will begin as the platelets release growth factors and collagen growth is stimulated in the area. The effects of PRP facial injections can last for many months.
